Gas tank empty? It could cost you in more ways than one.

I know it pains me to think about filling up my gas tank, especially with gas prices creeping back up to over $4 a gallon. As tempting as it is to wait until the last possible moment to refill your tank, that practice could drive up your costs even higher.

Did you know your vehicle’s fuel pump is located inside the gas tank? A full tank of fuel will help to keep the pump cool and prolong the life of the pump. A fuel pump that’s overheating can cause your car to stop running at the most inconvenient times, like in the middle of nowhere, or in heavy traffic. Besides avoiding a dangerous situation, an overheated and ruined pump is easily a couple hundred dollars out of your pocket. Don’t be like me- I learned this the hard way!
