Preparing your car for WINTER!

With the cold, ice, and snow nipping at our heels we need to prepare our vehicles for FREEZING TEMPURATURES!! Here are a few tips on getting your car ready for those COLD WINTER months.

Check the freeze points on your antifreeze and your washer fluid. A mixture of (50/50) 50 % antifreeze and 50% water will not freeze until -12*C. A higher concentration of either antifreeze or water will raise the freezing point. Also, a 100% of washer fluid will generally not freeze until -22*. You can also go down to your local auto parts store and buy the lowest freezing point washer fluid they have. It will give you the freezing point right on the bottle.

You should also check your cabin and engine air filters. Before you have to blast that heat all winter you might want to check those cabin air filters, and see if they need changed. Not all vehicles have these, but they keep a lot of dirt and unwanted stuff from entering your vehicle.
Don’t forget to check that engine air filter also. It takes about twelve thousand gallons of air to burn a gallon of gas. And if that air filter is dirty it can’t trap anymore dirt ,it just passes through into your air intake system. Which is not good for you or your family to breath in all that dirty air!
