So here we are in 2015 and now starts that vicious cycle of things to come! You know what I am talking about! Those dreaded new year updates! Also known as the time of year to pay attention to every piece of mail that comes your way!

Woody's

Mail is such a great concept! Without it I would never remember that my vehicle tags are due!I mean really, how many of you actually check to make sure your tags are current!I know I don’t and I really despise fines! As this time approaches it really makes me question the importance of such tedious tasks! So why would you think getting your tags renewed is so important? What is all of the fuss behind this little sticker? To answer these questions I guess we should look at what all is involved in getting your tags renewed. You can find out what will be involved right on the front of that cute little Registration card that you received as a reminder! Here is a list of options that could be on that card…

Woody's

  • Vehicle Inspection
  • Paid Property Tax from the year before
  • Current Insurance Card

Two out of the three are self explanatory, however let’s talk about what the Vehicle Inspection is all about! State law requires motor vehicles to pass a vehicle safety inspection performed by an authorized inspection station. This is one cost effective way to improve traffic safety! The items that will be checked are as follows…

Woody's

  • Seatbelts
  • Windshield Wipers and Windows
  • Turn Signals and Headlights
  • Brake Lights
  • Brake System
  • Horn
  • Steering Mechanism
  • Rearview Mirrors
  • Exhaust System
  • Fuel System
  • Tires and Wheels
  • Bumpers
  • Airbags

Looking at that list you can see that all of those items can determine your safety on the road and the safety of others! For instance.. if you have to do this with your Windshield Wipers…

then you probably should get them fixed before taking it in for inspection! Speaking of inspections… I have noticed that I don’t always need an inspection. This made me curious as to why I don’t but my husband does.

Woody's

Well come to find out there is a list of vehicles exempt from needing an inspection and my 2010 Ford F-150 falls in that category! Of course every state has different rules and regulations but in Missouri this is just how it was!Now this year may be different for me according to the rules so no more bragging rights to my husband, that I am just Awesome that’s why!

We have talked about what needs to be done but I have not yet talked about where you need to get your tags renewed. I know you all know that you go to your local DMV to handle these issues but what you didn’t know is you can now complete them online!

That’s right….

Woody's

No more waiting in those long dreaded lines praying for them to call you up next! This will help you stay on top of things since you can renew them from the comfort of your own home!So be watching your mail and be sure to get your tags renewed! Your safety and the safety of others depends on it!
